Vaucresson Sausage

Vance Vaucresson of the famed Vaucresson Sausage family joins New Orleans media personality, Wild Wayne and his co-host Shawn A. Royal for the latest episode of the Wild Wayne Unchained Podcast. The fourth generation butcher and sausage maker takes listeners on a journey through New Orleans past and present, talking about everything from his company’s humble beginnings to cultural history to Jazz Fest.

The Vaucresson family is interwoven into New Orleans’ multicultural history, finding its beginnings in the food industry as butchers in 1899. The family’s butcher and sausage making business was handed down from generation to generation and evolved with the city over the years. In 1964, that evolution included a restaurant called Vaucresson’s Creole Cafe on Bourbon Street. This cafe was the first African American owned business on Bourbon Street since Reconstruction. This was also the beginnings of Vaucresson Sausage becoming one of the first vendors for the famous New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest.

Co-host Shawn A. Royal says, “When ya hot sausage comes with a history lesson, you’ve hit the jackpot! Vance Vaucresson of the Vaucresson Sausage family gives us something to fill our belly and our minds on the latest edition of the Wild Wayne Unchained Podcast.”
